5th December Extravaganza

Posted on 4th November 2019 by Charlotte Nixon

This December, we’re closing the year in style. On Thursday the 5th, we have not one, not two, but three events happening across Northern Film + Media, Tees Valley Screen and NFM Academy.

From 10am, join us over at the Old Fire Station at Middlesbrough Town Hall for Introduction to Screen Industries Careers. Supported by our Tees Valley ERDF Project, this masterclass introduces Tees Valley SMEs to leading professionals who can offer advice and guidance on working in the film and TV industry. Joining us are Matt Gallagher and Jude Winstanley. Founder of thecallsheet.co.uk, Matt has almost 20 years of experience in the industry, has authored industry bestseller ‘Breaking into UK Film and TV Drama’, and has delivered training programmes for the Academy Awards, Warner Bros., Film London and Into Film. With her 22 years of production experience, freelance broadcast television Line Producer Jude offers a wealth of expertise. Not only has she founded the TV industry online jobs board theunitlist.com, but Jude is also currently working on a new entertainment series for ITV and is a volunteer events producer for the Royal Television Society. This course is free to attend, but we ask that you have a Tees Valley base, are over 18, and that you’re eligible to access SME support. At 6:30pm, hop on over to ARC Stockton for a night of career advice, networking opportunities, and festive fun. We’re kicking things off with a networking event designed to support industry newcomers in the North East and Tees Valley. At our NFM Academy Careers and Networking Evening, you’ll gain a better understanding of the industry, the type of roles available, and the skills required to work in film and TV. Hear how others progressed in the industry: the highs, the lows, and the stumbling blocks they encountered along the way. This event begins with a panel session, before offering the opportunity to network with experienced professionals, crew, and potential employers. Thanks to Tees Valley Combined Authority and ERDF, NFM Academy events are free. Find out more and sign up here: https://nfmacareersnetworking.eventbrite.co.uk

The fun doesn’t end here though, as from 7:30pm we’re staying in ARC Stockton for our Tees Valley Screen Christmas Celebration! We’re marking the first year of Tees Valley Screen by looking back at the exciting developments in the region this past year and celebrating the local filmmaking talent involved. You’ll also have the chance for more networking with fellow attendees over a glass of fizz and a mince pie. Attendance is free but please register: https://tvschristmascelebration.eventbrite.co.uk

As you can see, the 5th of December is going to be a huge day for us at NFM, TVS and NFM Academy, but more importantly offers huge opportunities for budding filmmakers, early career professionals, and anyone wishing to celebrate local film and TV talent. Join us for as much of the day as you fancy, but please register for the events you’ll be attending!
