TVS x Animex: Approaches to Animated Storytelling

Are you a writer or director intrigued by animation? Join North East-based animation professionals Lesley-Anne Rose and Ellie Land as they discuss their animation journeys and the key to writing and directing for animation.

Discussion points will include:

  • The differences between writing for live action and for animation
  • Writing & directing short stop-motion animation (Case study: Lesley-Anne Rose)
  • Directing animated elements within a feature film context (Case study: Ellie Land, Irene’s Ghost)

There will also be the chance to ask questions live and through Zoom Q&A. Questions can also be sent in advance to tvs@nfmarchive.northeastscreen.org.

About the speakers

Lesley-Anne Rose is an artist and arts educator whose stop-motion short films include Spatulahead and Oxidane.

Ellie Land is an animation director, educator and researcher whose recent work includes Irene’s Ghost and Bathroom Privileges.
