North East Screen Access - The Dumping Ground

NFM and CBBC are inviting you to apply for a shadow placement opportunity with CBBC’s The Dumping Ground.

Successful applicants will be given a 2-day shadowing placement with the production whilst they film this year’s series.

To be eligible for this you need to be over 18, out of full time education and have a base in the North East.

Fulwell 73 are offering an exciting six-week paid internship for those wanting to gain experience in the industry.

Production Executive - Re:production

Re:production, one of the largest commercial production companies in North England (based in Newcastle) are looking for a Production Executive to join their team.

The purpose of this role is to provide administrative support to a team, managing a variety of tasks to ensure seamless support and contributing to the effective day to day running of the team.

You will receive on the job training to help you reach the levels of Production Manager later in your career.

On-screen BSL Presenter - ITV

ITV are looking for an accomplished British Sign Language expert to join the busy team at Signpost Productions in Gateshead as an On-Screen Presenter.

You’ll have a professional on screen appearance and an approachable style and manner both on and off screen. As On-Screen Presenter, you’ll be accustomed to the inner workings of a busy production environment and have experience working to very strict deadlines.

Location Coordinator - LS Productions

LS Productions are looking for a Location Coordinator to assist the Head of Locations and Location Manager with running the location department in respect of both all the shoots the location department facilitates and location-related business development on behalf of LS Productions.

You will be responsible for the workflow of each shoot LS facilitates on behalf of the department.

This is both a remote working and office role – either Manchester or London.

Salary: approx £25,000

Location Assistant - LS Productions

LS Productions are looking to recruit a Location Assistant you will assist the Location team with all the shoots the Location department facilitates.

You will support the Location Coordinators and Location Manager to ensure that locations are presented to clients on-brief and on time.

You will assist with the creation of bespoke presentations of location imagery as well as the collation and organisation of folders of scout imagery.

You will work both remotely and at the LS Production offices in Manchester or London.

Scout and BTS Photographer - LS Productions

LS Productions have a new role: Scout and Behind-the-Scenes Photographer.

You’ll play an integral role in growing and enhancing their comprehensive location library – the UK’s largest –  which is used exclusively and extensively by our clients when sourcing locations to shoot photo or film projects in the UK.

In addition to scouting locations that inspire and inform, you will also capture creative and candid behind-the-scenes photography at key shoots for use by the LS Marketing team on social media, website and in presentations.

This role sits within the Location department and you’ll assist the team to research and scout locations.

You’ll work remotely and in LS offices either Manchester, Edinburgh or London as well as travelling around the UK.

Videographer/Editor - Visualsoft

Visualsoft (Newcastle and Stockton based) are on the look out for a Videographer/Editor to join their brand marketing team.

The role will see you produce engaging, dynamic content to promote the Visualsoft Brand, eCommerce Platform and Services which they offer.

This is a hybrid role, with you expected to be in one of the offices 1/2 days per week.

Salary: £21,000 – £25,000

In-house Photographer/Videographer - The Handbag Clinic

Newcastle’s world leading pre-loved handbag favourite: The Handbag Clinic are looking for a Photographer/Videographer to join their in-house team.

This position will involve you operating a DSLR for e-commerce photography and video production. You will work closely with the marketing team to capture content that projects our values and is stylistically on brand.

Editing, of both photos and videos, will also be a large part of the role, proficiency in Adobe Creative Studio and an eye for detail and perfection are necessary.

Film and TV Teacher - Pauline Quirke Academy

The Pauline Quirke Academy in Sunderland is looking for a qualified, energetic, hard-working and passionate individual to join their team.

The ideal candidate will have experience producing film from beginning to end and have the ability to work through this process with each age group. Please note that candidates with drama teaching experience and a passion for film and TV with the knowledge of the subject, will be considered. You should have experience working within a production environment or be studying film/TV/production at a higher education level.

Salary: £20-25 per hour

Junior Production Manager (The Documentary Unit) - BBC

The BBC’s Documentary Unit are looking for a Junior Production Manager to join their team on new history series, Ancient Powers (w/t).

You will be instrumental in the day to day smooth running of the project, having delegated decision-making authority from the Production Manager, whilst working within BBC guidelines and frameworks. You will have line management responsibilities for production management team members and you will be a key part of the production processes, ensuring resources and editorial aspirations are aligned.

You will be coordinating filming in Rome, Greece and setting up remote filming in China and will stay on through the edit and delivery period.

Fixed term contract with a combination of WFH and in the London office (team is based in London, PM in Scotland).

Data Science Opportunities, Product Group - BBC

The BBC Product Group is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of the BBC’s portfolio of digital products. Across 2022 they will have opportunities for Data Scientists and Senior Data Scientists to be based in Newcastle. The role of Data Scientist is hands-on, where you are expected to use your technical skills to deliver value to the BBC’s audience. Broadcast Technical Operator Apprenticeship - BBC

The BBC have an exciting opportunity for someone to join their Newcastle team as a Broadcast Technical Operator Apprentice.

You’ll get involved in all aspects of technical operations: tackling technical problems with engineers and working behind the scene of live news broadcasts – in the studios or out on location.

You’ll work with local, national and international programme makers to make sure broadcast equipment and technology runs smoothly everyday. You’ll also learn best practices for preparing and setting up broadcasting equipment, media content systems and IP networks.

Script Editor Talent Pool - In House Drama Productions - BBC Children's

BBC Children’s are looking to increase their talent pool of Script Editors who can come and work on In House Dramas when needed.

The Script Editor will work in close collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure their creative vision is realised – collating notes and managing relationships with writers. You’ll be working with Producers and Executive Producers to take the scripts from premise through to completion and manage and update the script schedule, ensuring that scripts are delivered on time.

Software Engineers (Mid and Senior Level) - BBC Core Services

Do you want to be part of the team that enables some of the BBC’s most popular digital products? Software Engineers (Mid-Senior level) - BBC Technology and Product

Experience of project working and professional software development processes including Agile, behaviour driven development and test driven development would be preferable, as well as supporting software in a production environment. Finally, we value experience communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels in an organisation.

Step Up - BFI

The BFI have launched Step Up, which aims to provide opportunities for creative and technical production crew from underrepresented groups to work on a production supported by the BFI Film Fund.

Applications are welcome from those who are ready to either step up in their department or step across from other creative industries (such as television, documentary and short form content).

Get Set - Prodigious

London-based Prodigious have just launched their Get Set programme, which will offer one on-set production runner role (paid) each month in London to candidates with little or no professional experience.

You will shadow their experienced producers and production managers, supporting them on set.

Producer pathways in unscripted TV - ScreenSkills and Gritty TV

Producer Pathways is a brand new producer training programme for industry talent working in any genre of unscripted TV at A/P, P/D or producer level.

From development and storytelling skills, to top tips for managing happy and healthy teams, as well as managing edits, risks, and budget, the training will equip participants with the missing links in their professional skills, and build a cohort of Producers who can thrive and progress in the industry.

Online workshops will run from March through to June.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Training - BIFA

BIFA have announced a suite of equality, diversity and inclusion training in partnership with ScreenSkills, which will see a programme of training sessions run from August through to March 2022.

This programme will include Unconscious Bias Training, Anti-bullying and harassment training and Fair recruitment and inclusivity in the workplace training.

Breakout- Creative UK and Netflix

Breakout is a new partnership between Creative UK and Netflix UK giving the next generation of outstanding genre filmmakers the opportunity to make a breakout debut feature.

The programme will provide UK talent with the tools and support to develop their voice and create original local stories that speak to a global audience. In addition to receiving £30,000 development funding, selected teams will take part in an intensive programme of training and professional development. At the end of the process, Netflix will greenlight at least one film for production.

North of Tyne Investment - Creative England

If you are a freelancer or small business working in the creative industries (including screen, tv and film) located in Newcastle, North Tyneside or Northumberland, you will be able to access the new North of Tyne Combined Authority Investment programme which is run by Creative England.

There are two elements to this:

Equity investments of £25,000 – £75,000

Loans of £50,000 – £150,000

ScreenSkills bursaries

A ScreenSkills bursary is a cash grant to remove the obstacles to getting into the screen industries or progressing your career once you’re in.

You can apply for money to pay for most things that relate to work and continuing professional development, such as training fees, accommodation, care, disability access costs, equipment, software and travel.

The fund is open until 13th March 2022.

UK Global Screen Fund - BFI

The BFI have launched a one-year pilot fund designed to boost international development and distribution opportunities for the UK’s independent screen sector.

The £7 million fund will target support across the screen sector, including film, TV, documentary, animation and interactive narrative games content.

There are three strands: International Distribution, Business Development and Co-Production. Applications for the International Distribution strand are now being taken, with the other two strands to open in the next few months.

2022 Programming Fellowships - Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival

Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival (BFMAF) is inviting applications for the fourth year of its fellowship programme for UK based early career curators, film programmers and critics.

This year they are offering two Programming Fellowships who will join BFMAF as Associate Programmers.

The roles are developmental and mentored roles at the festival, creating opportunities for mutual learning in and around critical and audience focused film festival curation.

Fee: £4000, freelance contract from April – September

Comedy 50:50 - Fulwell 73

Fulwell 73 want funny, original films to showcase brilliant female talent.

One film per month will be selected to feature on Fulwell’s YouTube channel and the winners will be paid £150 (per film).

Entries can be submitted by individuals or teams and must include a female director and/or writer. The content must be original comedy created for the competition and ideally between 1 and 5 minutes in length. Films should be best possible quality, 16:9 (widescreen) format, and have sound. The max file size is 128GB. Entries filmed on phones are acceptable.

Talent Connect - Film Hub North

Every month Film Hub North welcomes pitches from Writers/Directors which will be accessed by producers who have been approved to access the Talent Connect folder. This is a way of north screen and film talent connecting and accessing each others work to produce something wonderful.

BFI

The BFI supports filmmakers and the screen industry in the UK and abroad. It has a number of different funding and grant schemes that may be applicable to you.

The Film + TV Charity have a number of grants and access schemes available for people working in the industry.
