NFM and the BBC to outline the nuts and bolts of two different factual submission processes

Posted on 2nd December 2021

As part of NFM's working partnership with the BBC, we bring you Get Ready for Business - Factual, an online event outlining the nuts and bolts of two different factual submission processes on Monday 13th December, 10.30am - 12noon.

Callouts take many forms in the BBC, even in the factual space - this session will walk you through a couple of different approaches. It will cover commissioner communication (briefings and callouts), technical aspects of a submission (including the importance of the eligibility criteria) and the evaluation process.

You will also get a brief overview of the scale and tariffs on offer to help you assess your company’s ability to pitch and deliver to these particular briefs.

Speakers include, Tony Parker (Head of Development, BBC England), Helen Munson (Commissioning editor, BBC Daytime), Judith Nichol (Partnerships Executive Lead, BBC) and James Dundas (BBC Business Affairs Manager).

Places are free but limited. You must have a North East base and be over 18 years old to attend. This event is aimed at Producers and Production companies interested in BBC Commissions.

A must for anyone wishing to make the most of future  BBC Daytime and BBC Three opportunities or with serious longer term aspirations to move into broadcast.

This is the first in a series of events aiming to get ready for the business of broadcast and forms part of NFM and the BBC’s joint commitment to skills and business development aimed at levelling up companies and individuals working in ,or sidestepping into, the broadcast sector.

Please note this is not a how to pitch your ideas session, we will be announcing more sessions to support idea development across a range of genres in the new year.
