Cecilia Stenbom

Cecilia Stenbom will use her time at Chapter to research and develop an experimental approach to observational documentary, exploring the idea of the institution in its widest sense, as a civic organisation, an architectural structure and a space where human interaction occurs.

Cecilia is originally from Stockholm and has been based in Reykjavik, Helsinki and Glasgow before moving to the North East in 2005. Her work is concerned with moving image and the everyday; how the cinematic permeates the everyday and in turn how the everyday is transformed into moving image narratives. Recent and upcoming project include: Somewhere Becoming the Sea, group exhibition curated by Film & Video Umbrella; Beam Reach Blasting and Parallel commission for Tall Ships Cultural Programme (UK and Sweden); Everyday Collateral, solo exhibition, Workplace Gallery, Gateshead; In Waiting, commission by Creative England; The List, Figure two, BALTIC 39, Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Bydd Stenbom yn defnyddio ei hamser yng Nghymru i ymchwilio ac i ddatblygu dulliau arbrofol ar gyfer dogfennu arsylwadol ac yn archwilio hefyd y cysyniad o sefydliad yn ei ystyr ehangaf – sefydliadau dinesig, strwythurau pensaernïol a gofod lle mae rhyngweithio dynol yn digwydd.

Daw Cecilia yn wreiddiol o Stockholm ac fe dreuliodd gyfnodau yn Reykjavik, Helsinki a Glasgow cyn symud i’r Gogledd Ddwyrain yn 2005. Mae ei gwaith yn ymwneud â delweddau symudol a bywyd bob dydd; sut mae’r sinematig yn hydreiddio pethau cyffredin a sut mae pethau bob dydd, yn eu tro, yn cael eu troi’n naratifau mewn delweddau symudol. Mae ei phrosiectau diweddar a chyfredol yn cynnwys: Somewhere Becoming the Sea, arddangosfa grŵp wedi’i churadu gan Film & Video Umbrella; comisiwn Beam Reach Blasting a Parallel ar ran Rhaglen Ddiwylliannol ‘Tall Ships’ (y DG a Sweden); Everyday Collateral, arddangosfa unigol yn y Workplace Gallery, Gateshead; In Waiting, comisiwn gan Creative England; The List, Figure two, BALTIC 39, Newcastle Upon Tyne.
