‘How to Get a First Feature Made’ was a North East edition of Creative England’s highly successful talent modules programme delivered in partnership by NFM and Creative England in 2016.

Northern Film + Media worked in partnership with national talent development agency Creative England to deliver ‘How to Get a First Feature Made’ – a North East edition of Creative England’s highly successful talent modules programme.

‘How to Get a First Feature Made’ ran from February to April 2016, with four immersive days which took place in Newcastle upon Tyne. Designed for prospective first-time feature filmmakers, the modules took 40 carefully selected early career directors, producers and writers working in drama, factual and animation through a detailed and expert-led overview of the complete lifecycle of feature film production.

Speakers included Tom Grievson (Fandor), Bea Neumann, Rachel Tunnard and Michael Berliner (Adult Life Skills), Oscar-winning producer Mia Bays, Peter Ettedgui (Spectre, Kinky Boots), Stephen Follows (author of Directors UK’s agenda-setting report into gender inequality in the UK film industry), Patrick Fischer (Creativity Media), producer Daisy Allsop, writer/director Hope Dickson Leach, editor Andrew Hulme (Lucky Number Slevin, The American) and producer and director Paul Katis (Kajaki).
