Indie development opportunity with Hat Trick Productions

It’s a six month paid development partnership for a Production Company based in North East to work on a Scripted Comedy co-development with the development team at Hat Trick productions. You will receive a £15k bursary to cover your time and all costs associated with the partnership.

The brief:

To co-develop a slate of original comedy projects to pitch to BBC Comedy in November. We will be expecting to see between 4 – 6 ideas, with a guarantee of 1 project to receive further development.

Phase 1 to produce a detailed SMART project development plan (with support from NFM) with clear aims and objectives, a budget and timelines – to be delivered and agreed by July 23rd 2022.

Phase 2 July 23 – December 22 development activity focused in the North East but including a visit to Hat Trick offices in London, one outreach event in North East.

Phase 3 January 23 – the delivery of 4-6 original projects to pitch to BBC Comedy and end of project outreach event in North East.

Who we are looking for:

  1. North East companies and attached producers who have and can demonstrate established connections with comedy talent and writers, and want to make scripted comedy in the North East. OR
  2. Commercially viable North East companies and attached producers currently working in other genres or platforms who view this as an opportunity to grow into, or cross over into, comedy.

Who we are NOT looking for:

  1. Producers and production companies with no established links to the North East
  2. Individual producers, writers or comedy talent.
